Emotion vs. Intuition (How to Tell the Difference?)

Can we trust our emotions to guide our decisions?

An emotion can POINT towards an intuitive knowing, but it is not the knowing.

I used to closely associate my intuition with my emotions…

A strong emotion indicated a strong “sense” about something, and I would base my decision upon it.

Now, I prioritize my intuition over rationality every time, but I am largely able to distinguish between an emotion & intuitive knowing.

When a strong emotional charge is present, this is an indication that we are out of equanimity, and something has been triggered within us.

This is neither good nor bad, it simply is.

The INTUITIVE KNOWING can be felt when we can give enough presence to the emotion/trigger such that it equilibrates.

The process of equilibration requires that we are able to DIS-IDENTIFY with the story the mind creates about what the trigger/emotion “means”

Meaning, can you feel the emotion/trigger PURE… without the story.

You will know when you have equilibrated because there is a sense of ACCEPTANCE about what is present - rather than the strong need to change it.

From this place of acceptance, the intuitive knowing can be felt and, for me, it is often recognized as sensation in my body.

For example, I will feel a contraction or expansion in my womb, heart, belly, etc.

So while often times an emotion can POINT towards an intuitive knowing, it is usually not a knowing in & of itself.

In fact, emotions can disrupt our ability to attune to our intuitive knowing because when we are emotionally charged, we are often *attached* to a particular outcome.

As our capacity grows to remain in equanimity throughout various emotions & triggers (meaning we can be present to a trigger without it overwhelming our system), we can be guided by our intuitive knowing more & more fluidly 💗
