Handling a Business Crisis
The mistake most people make in business (and in life) is that they let the emotional trigger/crisis determine their next course of action.
It works like this:
You receive the "news" --> your system freaks out --> you try to put out the fire.
But 99% of the time, the decision you made didn't come from equanimity.
The external fire you were trying to put out, was actually an INTERNAL fire.
Your course of action was a REACTION to the fear & panic within you.
Alternatively if you could have been present to the emotional trigger for long enough that your system calmed down, the answer to the "crisis" becomes obvious.
There's no urgency around it, just peace.
From here, the fire we think we need to put out is seen for what it usually is: A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY.
This might sound unrealistic especially for someone in a business/corporate position making countless decisions per day.
I get that.
So start with the really emotional ones. The BIG NEWS you get that something happened and you're immediately stressed AF about it, needing to solve it.
BE PRESENT TO YOURSELF FIRST.
This isn't a 2 minute thing, it might be a 24 hour thing.
Doing NOTHING except feeling the fears with your full attention, not trying to solve them.
During this time your system will be saying "We need to act NOW! This is urgent!"
But then it will drop through. The shift is unmistakeable.
The next step becomes so obvious it's almost laughable.
And you'll find that the "crisis" put you on an even better track.
In short:
You receive the "news" --> you FEEL the impact & give the triggers your full attention until you're centred again --> the decision becomes obvious.
(And it's going to be waaay better than the ones you initially wanted to make 🔥🔥)
