The Body is the Gateway to Spiritual Opening

Fully inhabiting the body is what provides us with direct spiritual connection & mystical experience.

As I continue integrating early trauma and INHABITING my body more deeply,

The aliveness of all that surrounds me & how it communicates with me becomes increasingly evident ✨

While the mind can conceptualize spirituality, it is the body that experiences spiritual connection as real.

This is what makes trauma integration such an integral part of the spiritual path.

We can only inhabit the body to the extent that it is SAFE to do so - and this has to do with nervous system capacity.

Many teachings emphasize the importance of OPENING. Continuously. To more love.

But this is not the way of nature 🌿

It is not more “spiritual” to open than to close.

Both are equally necessary and if we are striving for OPENNESS while condemning the close, we end up in a place of forcing nature rather than trusting in its intelligence.

We also end up condemning the very thing that is needed (the closing/withdrawal) in order to healthily build capacity in the body to experience more love.

To open, open, open doesn’t create space to effectively navigate overwhelm, freeze, panic, etc which occurs as our nervous system reaches its capacity in terms of how much information it can receive, hold, & process.

My body does not feel more alive & connected to spirit when I tell/force it to open.

(This is also why I feel so repulsed by some of the male embodiment teachers out there who are constantly directing women to “open” themselves.)

My body *naturally* opens to more & more love as it feels MET & resourced (internally & externally) - i.e. when I experience safety.

ATTUNEMENT, more than anything else, supports opening.

Learning what uniquely supports you to feel RESOURCED (what guides you towards stability & safety), supports opening.

And *not* condemning closure —> supports opening.
